Additional information

• The North Shore Hospitals operate independently from Westmead and Nepean Hospitals, as there is little patient flow between the two geographic areas.
  
• The North Shore Gynaecological Oncology Service is based at the Royal North Shore Hospital, with additional services based at the private hospitals. However, a central multidisciplinary Tumour Board reviews histopathology and patient management.
  
• The same medical specialists, including the Clinical Nurse Consultant attached to the North Shore Gynaecological Oncology Service work at both the public and private hospitals.
  
• Palliative care services are provided at Greenwich Hospital for North Shore gynaecological oncology patients and, at St Joseph’s (Auburn), Westmead, Mt Druitt and Nepean Hospitals for Western Sydney patients.
  
• Gynaecological oncology consultation and emergency service is provided as required at Ryde, Hornsby, Mona Vale and Manly District Hospitals.
  
• Gynaecological oncology surgery is not performed at Nepean Hospital. Patients generally go to Westmead for their surgery, but radiation and chemotherapy is available at Nepean Hospital.
  
• Accommodation for country patients can be provided at Casuarina Lodge on the Westmead campus (Tel. 9845 6900), and at Blue Gum Lodge (Tel. 9437 5490) for North Shore patients and at Rotary Lodge (Tel. 9926 8309) for their relatives.
